Grow into what you need
Choose your clinic size, then add only the modules your practice uses.
Also planned: a TCM-specialized AI assistant (TheTCMAtlas) and an AI Scribe for visit notes.

Pricing
Pick your clinic size, then add modules. The platform fee covers your team size. Module fees stack on top. Use the estimator for a full monthly total.
Step 1: Clinic size
This sets your platform fee. Modules are chosen in step 2.

Step 2: Modules

Select a team size to see pricing
Module add-on fees depend on your clinic size tier. Pick Solo, Practice, or Institution above to compare platform base and module prices.
Want the full receipt? Estimate platform + modules + optional seats and AI in one total.
Roles and seat unit weights: Owner/Admin/Practitioner/Herbalist = 1.0 · Supervisor/Front Desk = 0.75 · Intern = 0.40
When one member has multiple roles: each member bills at their highest role, plus lower-weight subroles on that account. Solo uses highest role only. Subroles on Solo plans do not add units.
Example: one member as Practitioner with Intern and Supervisor subroles = 2.15 seat units (1.00 + 0.40 + 0.75). Same-tier subroles (e.g. Admin + Practitioner) do not add extra units.
Monthly total = platform fee for your clinic size + selected module fees + seat overage where applicable. AI add-ons are optional and bill separately later.
AI pricing: AI overage is priced separately from other modules - TBD.
Platform modules
Three modules. One platform.
Start with charting and scheduling for everyday TCM practice. Add herbal pharmacy when you run an in-house dispensary. AI add-ons come later for notes and clinical support.

Why choose RootRx
Most platforms are either full clinic suites with bundled pricing, or general wellness tools that treat TCM workflows as an afterthought. RootRx leads with charting and scheduling for Chinese medicine, then herbal pharmacy when you need an in-house dispensary, with modular pricing.
TCM charting and scheduling
Documentation and appointment workflows shaped for Chinese medicine and acupuncture: tongue, pulse, patterns, visit templates, and calendars that connect to the chart.
Herbal pharmacy when you need it
In-house herbal pharmacy as an optional module for clinics that compound or stock herbs. Formulas, inventory, labels, and lot tracking without forcing every clinic to buy a dispensary suite.
Pricing that scales with you
Choose a team-size tier and add only the modules you need. As your clinic grows, upgrade your tier or turn on new modules in billing. Your costs stay aligned with the size of your practice instead of one fixed enterprise price from day one.
Teaching clinic workflows
Supervisor and intern review, audit trails, and institution-tier roles for school clinics that need accountability.
Compare on what matters
| What to evaluate | RootRx | Typical TCM clinic suite | General wellness EHR |
|---|---|---|---|
| TCM charting and scheduling | Chart notes built for TCM, tongue and pulse fields, clinical photo library (tongue, skin, and more), visit templates, practitioner calendars, and patient booking | Charting is often solid. Scheduling and online booking can feel bolted on, and few include a clinical photo library for tongue and other visit images | Generic SOAP and calendars not shaped for TCM pattern work |
| In-house herbal pharmacy | Optional module: formulas, lot traceability, labels, inventory, and patient order history | Often included, but depth and workflow quality vary by vendor | Usually limited to supplements or not supported at all |
| Pricing flexibility | Modular platform + modules. Pay for what your clinic actually uses | Often one bundled price for the full suite | Per-practitioner tiers with bundled features |
| Built for TCM clinic ops | Charting and scheduling first, pharmacy when you need it, shaped around TCM clinic roles and teaching clinics | TCM-focused on some platforms, but scope varies by region and vendor | Generic charting and scheduling for wellness practices |
| Teaching clinic support | Institution tier with intern/supervisor review across charting and pharmacy, plus audit trails | Available on some platforms, not always designed for school clinics | Rarely a core part of the product |
| Supplier independence | Your herb catalog and inventory. No required supplier lock-in | Some platforms favor specific suppliers, brands, or catalogs | Not designed around in-house herbal inventory |
| Getting started | From $34/mo with Solo charting, self-serve signup, 30-day free trial, pricing online | Often annual contracts, regional pricing, or demo-led onboarding | Fast signup for charting, but weak support for herbal pharmacies |
Charting, scheduling, and herbal pharmacy are coming soon for public signup. If you want a modular TCM platform you can grow into, RootRx is built for that path.
Pricing and features vary by vendor. Examples in this space include Smart TCM, Medicloud, Jane, SimplePractice, and Practice Better.

Founder note
Why I built RootRx
I started RootRx from day-to-day TCM clinic life. For a while I handwrote chart notes because I did not feel like I had enough patients to justify a heavyweight EHR, until the paper started taking over too much space. I also needed an organized place for clinical photos — especially tongue images — and a schedule that stayed out of the way. My love of herbology came with that same work, including the reality of running an in-house pharmacy.
A lot of clinic software gets the job done, but it can feel like an oversized shoe: functional but not fitted to how you actually practice.
I built RootRx around the clinic problems I lived with: charting, scheduling, herbal pharmacy management, a clinical photo library, and an easy way to see past chart notes in one system instead of tediously opening old charts one by one. I priced it to scale with your team, so it stays fair whether you are a solo practitioner or a teaching clinic with dozens of interns, supervisors, and practitioners.
Public signup is not open yet while I finish the product, but thank you for visiting. I hope RootRx helps you spend less time on admin and more time with patients.
